I have just install the Multi Router Traffic Grapher from OPENXTRA version 3.19.0 onto a Windows 2003 SP1 server.

Following the limited "Getting Started" guide, I was able to get the program installed and made one monitor (static).

Can anyone point me to a configuration file example that has several devices being monitored?

And, a good tutorial on how to setup/use this software?

Thanks.

Did you run cfgmaker? and indexmkr? Those will pretty much set up a basic
configuration file and indes.html page for you other than setting the
working directory and www source directory. (I may not have those filenames
exactly right, but you'll find them). I wouldn't try editing the scripts
unless you're a perl wiz, but you can edit the config file (which is
basically a template for interfaces monitored and html layout) to get a
nicer layout, especially if you're monitoring multiple devices. I like to
add a heading for each device and name the ports something useful like "Edge
uplink - Border Router port E2/2" or something instead of the default "Indx
#66 Ethernet 2/2". If you'd like a config example, I'll email you one (I run
MRTG on Linux, but the config files are the same). Also, take a look at
PRTG. It does SO much more (including bandwidth monitoring by IP address,
subnet, etc) and is a native Windows app with a gui interface - much easier
to set up than MRTG and you can easily configure and edit parameters like
sample rate, graph display interval, etc. It costs about $50.00 for a 50
sensor license and comes in 50, 100, 500 and unlimited license versions. It
requires more processing power than MRTG, but it's a great app. Also, ntop
for Linux is a great tool - needs a fairly powerful computer to keep up, but
has some nice features. Remove "nospam" from my email address.
