Mr. Kay is this true Killing off Windows Messenger

Greetings,

They're not referring to "Windows Messenger" as in the application, they're referring to the
"Messenger Service" built-in to Windows -- these are actually two different things.

The "Messenger Service" is a built-in Windows service for receiving short messages across
networks and turning it off (either yourself, having AOL turn it off for you, or in the
upcoming Microsoft service pack) will have *no* effect on Windows Messenger.

For the record, Windows Messenger isn't going anywhere -- keep in mind that Windows Messenger
is the *only* client which currently connects to the corporate Exchange IM and new Live
Communications Server.
