Hi

I have recently got a sweex 4.1 budget soundcard with a built in
mpu-401 compatible midi port / gate. Sound from the soundcard is
working fine, but midi isen’t. There is no communication when setting
up midi at all. I have enabled midi in the bios, but still nothing.
All drivers are installed and XP says the hardware is working
properly. Default midi playback device is MPU-401 (but my motherboard
has no midi / games port), which is why i got the pci card with one.
Have done all i can to try and get the damn thing working properly but
still nothing. Please help, or guide me as to what I should do.

regards

Gary

What motherboard is it? I had a gigabyte GA8IPE1000 which didn't come with
any midi/game cable, but it still had the port on the mobo (unfortunately
its pin-out was not standard).
Maybe your BIOS midi control is for the one on the mobo. Should this then be
disabled?
