Corporation.

If there is a solution to this problem at all !?

Mayham,

The MPU-401 Compatible MIDI Device involves using a now legacy standard
which hardware connects to the game port on the computer's sound card, and
which the sound card drivers support so that you could reproduce MIDI sound.
This standard is not supported in Vista, which has been replaced by the USB
standard and related devices and drivers.

So, exactly what is the problem you are having? I suppose it is that Vista
is detecting the MIDI portion of your legacy sound card and then complaining
that it has found an unknown device? In that case, Device Manager shows a
yellow bang (!) by the item? You want to get rid of that, right?

If that's the problem, try entering BIOS and look for the game port, and if
you find it, disable it and then Windows should no longer detect the port and
stop complaining about an unknown device.

If that doesn't work, in Device Manager under the Properties for the unknown
device, disable it.

If that doesn't work, consider buying a Vista compatible sound card that
doesn't have a MIDI capability. Also, it's possible I don't understand your
post, and thus I'm way of base here. However, I did my best. Anyone else?

The MPU-401 Compatible MIDI:

Thanks Freddy.

You were right on target there, thats exactly what it was (or better yet
what i was talking about)
I figure it wont cause any problems if i unistall it, so i will.
And im considering buying a V compatible sound card.
thx again for the good advice.
