mpg1 fails

We are running a large (250Mb) presentation with several WMVs and MPG1s. It
runs fine on several computers but on one machine (the client's show machine
of course!) one mpg fails every time at the same place. The rest of the show
then runs fine. We are running XP, she is on 2000. Is this likely to be a
memory issue and solved by updating to XP and more memory? Or might it be a
PPT issue?
 
On second thoughts I'm not sure, with the greatest respect, that this quite
answers the point. The mpg file starts to play OK but then on the show
machine consistently stops at the same point. It runs fine on all the other
machines we have played it on.

Any further thoughts appreciated.

It turns out that the mpg file got chopped when the CD it was recorded onto
became full. Curiously, the surviving part of the mpg remained playable as
if nothing had happened. The file size went from 174Mb to 36Mb.

Is this normal?
