Hi All,

For some reason, every *.mpg file I have, only plays for
about 1 min, then will stop. The thing is, the mpg lenght
is about 17mins.

If I click back or foward, on the seek bar, it will play
a totally different part of the movie, this part was not
in the first 1 min, if I keep on clicking back and
foward, I can basiclly view the whole 17min Movie.

I know this may sound confusing, but I hope someone can
help me.

thanks
David

If this is only effecting mpeg movies and not any others like avi, the only thing i can think of would be the mpeg codec in use. Have you recently downloaded a new codec, installed video editing software that could have changed the default mpeg codec etc?

If when playing an mpeg you view the properties within the File menu does it display the correct video length? Also is the audio codec "MPEG Audio Codec" and the video codec "MPEG Video Decoder"

What hapens if you try viewing the mpegs in the old version of media player found in program files\windows media player\mplayer2.exe . Trying this should help to determine if it is a codec or program problem.

I have exactly the same problem. It affects mpg, avi
etc. and these videos play fine with mplayer2. What does
this mean?

YEAH - open up media player|Tools|Options|Performance and
slide your video acceleration back to none - it worked
for me.

Good Luck

So far, none of the solotions have worked. Only one, out
of 11 played in quicktime correctly, none played in
mplayer2

The thing is, these movies played fine, when I was
running Windows ME, snice the switch, they play
different.....hmmmmm :(
