MPG files in MM

First, thanks Graham for URL re "Formats and Compressions" a great site and well worth the visit

Here's another problem I have with MM

When I load a MPG file into MM, it shows the first frame in the "collection" area OK, and will appear to play in the preview area, but there is no image on the preview screen, it remains blank. The sound plays OK.

If I use TMPGEnc to change the format from MPG to AVI, it works fine.

My ATI file player plays the MPG file OK

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong

You're not doing anything wrong. Unfortunately Movie Maker
simply doesn't work well with MPG files. Converting to AVI
first is the best solution.
