PPT uses the MCI Media Player to play multimedia, not the Windows Media
Player you'd expect it to use.
OK this might have been one reason for my problem
The test is to play your video by going
to Start/Run and typing in mplay32.exe If the video plays there, it
*should* play in PPT. I think you mentioned in your first post (?) that
the video does play there. So I didn't think it was an issue with your
MCI settings (which are those found in the registry as you mentioned
above).
When starting mplay32 as mentioned above a message window pops up
telling me that some other program changed the settings and asks to
solve this.
I don´t know what is done then by the player, the OS or whoever.
However, it doesn´t matter if I click on the "yes" or "no" button, the
MPEG2 clip is displayed properly in both cases, but is still not
displayed in PPT
BTW: In the meantime I found out that the default application for
displaying clips was changed by the winamp agent. This seems to be the
reason for the mesage window mentioned above. I turned it off and
mplay32.exe strats without such a message now (but still the clips are
not displayed in PPT).
You might check
http://www.soniacoleman.com/Tutorials/PowerPoint/multimedia.htm -- it
may give you some ideas.
I'm wondering if you convert your MPEG2 to
MPEG-1 if you'll have better results.
Maybe I´ll ty that too. The advantage of MPEG2 is the better resolution
of the MPEG2 clips.
I think I´ll try to insert the clips as objects too.
Thanks a lot ;^)
