mpeg video length errors

I have a large number of mpeg movies that are anywhere
from 10 mins to 40, yet when WMP 9 (XP operating system)
opens them up, it only recognizes less than 30 secs and
then freezes, requiring and end task. it's kind of
irritating when a 100 MB file only playes 19 seconds and
then stops.

You might give this little gem a try, but beware that the GUI is a little
quirky in XP. I always try this utility first, before resorting to a
process of rebuilding the MPEG by means of DEMUX --> MUX.

Rather dated by today's standards, but fortunately it still works most of
the time.

If you have the full MPEG 2 version of "TmpGenc", the inclusive MPEG Tools
can also rebuild the header for you rather quickly.

thanks, i tried using tmpgenc, downloaded it yesterday,
but the file ended up 3X as big, a 130MB file is now 365MB
can it rebuild the header without completely re-encoding
the video?
