I have a need to convert full sized MPEG2 files into something I can put on
a Pocket PC.

I've been trying to import the video into MovieMaker XP, then save it as
Pocket PC sized WMV's. My problem is that I cannot keep Moviemaker running.
I've tried EVERYTHING, including going to PopaJohn's site and doing
everything I can find to fix things.

Do any of you know of a simple program that would just make this conversion
without having to use Moviemaker?

Thanks!
Ed

It's an MPEG2 codec issue. I'd suggest converting your MPEG2 file into an
AVI file first, using something like TMPGEnc. And then using Movie Maker to
make the Pocket PC WMV.

Of course, I just spent the morning converting recorded TV MPEG2 files
(actually DVR-MS files) into AVI ones, using TMPGEnc... to test my various
AVI codec options, having 9 of them to pick from on my laptop. They all work
fine in MM2.

I'll probably have the new page on the website tomorrow, in the Importing
Source Files... Video section.

Try using windows media encoder and select convert file...it allows you to make wmv's specifically for ppc
