Mpeg to DVD player.Software ?

What is the best software for getting Mpegs burnt onto a DVD for playing
back via a DVD recorder. ie I have 8 Mile film as a Mpeg ( Divx ) which I
want to burn onto a DVD for my son to watch on his DVD at home.

Divx is actually .avi
And it is somewhat harder to encode back to dvd without the sound going
completely out of sync. You would need to strip the file of audio then
convert them both separately then put them together again.
