My system (Win98, IE6) had been able to download mpeg clips in
the background. (With a progress window showing Estimated Time
Left, and that it was downloading to a Temporary Folder.) When
the file was fully downloaded, my Windows Media Player would
open and play it.
I tried out a freeware media player, and now something is.
Now, WMP opens as soon as I click an .mpg link. That's not what
I want - my internet connection is too slow, so the video starts
and stops.
I've tried all the settings in the MPEG file type in Windows
Explorer - changed the default action from Play to Open, checking
and unchecking the "Confirm open after download" box. Nothing
seems to help.
I am probably dancing all around the solution to this, but haven't
hit on it. Help !!
