Mpeg gpl

Does anyone know or give me some help with mpeg gpl.exe.......
A friends pc is really slow and plaged /w popup's and this is the only file
I think it could be???

Welcome back ;-)

I would give SuperAntiSpyware a try and also Malwarebytes Antimalware...they
seem to have superceded Spybot and Ad-Aware for effectiveness.

What antimalware scans has s/he already run?

Run a full scan with an up-to-date antivirus software.
Runa at least one scan with an up-to-date antispyware.

Also run an online scan at http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ (v6.6)

It may not be helpful to post the name of an executable--the names change,
and may not mean anything to those reading here.

If you can grab that executable, a good place to test it is at:

www.virustotal.com

Look for "upload a file" and a nearby "browse" button. Bring up that site
in the infected machine, and browse to this file that you find suspect.
This site will bring to bear a large number of competent antivirus and
spyware scanners. If nothing else, this may give you a better name to hang
on the problem and some cleaning instructions from the antivirus vendors.

Funny you say that Mr. Engel, Spybot and Ad-Aware are his programs also
NOD32... So I guess I will go over tonight and load some more up to date free
software into his PC and see what we can do for him! And also so of these on
line scans......... He has a problem that I can't put the preverbal finger
on! lol.
