mp3s saving as mpegs

when ever I try to save an mp3 on my computer instead of
saving as an mp3 it saves as an mpeg. When I try right
click save as the only files it allows me to save the file
as are mpeg video or all files. Does anybody know how to
fix this?

Have you tried saving as .MPEG, then renaming the file
to .MP3 afterwards.?
