mp3s dragging

I recently installed the soundblaster. I have no software
or hardware issues.Everything appears to check out.
Everytime I attempt to play either an mp3 or a wma the
songs starts to drag, then speeds back up and then starts
to drag again. Any clues??
 
What is the speed of your machine, do you have unnecessary background
programs running. Are you running sp1 or sp2...? Have you been to the
manufactures site for latest drivers...?
