You shouldn't need a freeware for this. If you have a burner (I presume that
you do), your CD burning software should convert those automatically for you
already.

Fer instance, I use NERO (not freeware) and by simply dragging and dropping
mp3s into the compilation window, the software will automagically convert
them into cda files upon burning.

The burning software (if other than NERO) that came with your cd burner
should have a similar built-in capability.

CDex doesn't swing that way. It goes CD > HD, not vice versa.

I have version 1.50 Beta of CDex and one of the Convert options,
(F12 keyboard shortcut) will Convert Compressed Audio File(s) to WAV file(s).

Although so I don't get pops and farts on an audio disk, I only burn
them at x4.

This is usually a good indication that you have (wait for it...) sh*tty taste
in music. };O)

My kids think so, I don't

With CDR's being so cheap the quility is not always perfect even on branded
media.

Since I only make disks for my own use, where is the hardship in the disk
cutting taking 15 mins as opposed to 5 mins.

Or it could be your gear can't reproduce to signal well enough to hear to
pops }:-))

Each to their own and it works for me.

Feurio which is free audio only software from the ahead nero site is one of
the best programs for easily converting from mp3 to cda and I think vice
versa. It will also burn the cd but doesn't do data disks. I used to use
it instead of nero until I got one of the few writers it doesn't work with.
The quality of the conversion is comparable to cdex.
