Has anybody used this program?

http://mixermp3.com/

The website is kinda plain and has a few typos, but the screenshots:

http://mixermp3.com/sc.html

seem to show a fairly well written program.

Next, I located XMPlay 3.0 at this site:

http://www.un4seen.com/

Then of course, the is the recently discussed Quintessential Player:

http://quinnware.com/

but I don't like the fact that one *might*(NOTE THAT I USE THE WORD
_MIGHT_) have to dink around with adding plugins to get it to work to
one's satisfaction. I just want to download something that will work
out of the box.

I was looking for a player with an equilizer, and those are what I
came up with. I know I could do Winamp, but don't know what they mean
by "Support for Windows Media 9 Audio". Does that mean that they
support DRM? If so, ****em.

While looking, I also got so many hits for Linplayer, I'd probably run
that one if I was using Linux.

I used Quintessential Player for a long time and I was very satisfied
with it. I think it does work fully out of the box. I suspect that
the effects produced by the plug-in are the sort of mild preset
distortions one might enjoy in some contexts, but aren't necessary for
enjoying your music. The only reason I stopped using Quintessential
Player was that Foobar 2000 came along. It was reported to use less
resources which was a concern of mine at the time. I liked it and
I've used it ever since.

I don't think you'll be disappointed with Quintessential Player, John.

if you haven't already, take a look at dbPowerAmp
http://www.dbpoweramp.com/dbpoweramp.htm

they do have other products and codecs, but it brags about being "
modularized: only components used are loaded,"

This seems to be a favorite of many, because of its other capabilities
in other modules..(ripping, converting, etc.)m but the player alone
seems to address what you are asking for.

I know I could do Winamp
then instead of whining, USE IT. (dumb ass.)

imho Quintessential is a good choice ;-)

Quintesentials ran fine on a P2/266 with 128 Mb ram... while Winamp3
did not (winamp2 did)... where can I find Foobar

Thanks for the reply. I've downloaded the player and will give it a
try when things slow down to a dull roar around here. 80)>

Dowloaded it! That does look like a real good one. I particularly like
this claim:

"Auto Volume Normalization - no more fiddling with the volume knob,
all your tracks will be the same volume"

Again, will try it when things slow down around here.. 80)>

Thanks!

I use WCD on my better faster system and Foobar on my lower end system.
Foobar is nice because you can configure hotkeys orf everything (like
next track, volume up/down, etc.)

If that's a problem, then you need MP3Gain:
http://mp3gain.sourceforge.net/. It is fast, accurate, lossless, and
uses the "radio gain" technique so that changes may be undone. I've used
v1.20 successfully since its beta days. Think v1.2.3 is the current
iteration so guess it's time to update.
I, personally have had best long-term success with T&T Winamp
(v2.91 is "the one to have") and the dbPowerAmp "suite". Sometimes,
drive activity concurrent with an old-and-slow dialup connection would
cause dbAmp to burp occasionally on my low-end 800mHz Wintel box
(Win98se), which never occurred in Winamp. I still prefer the dbPowerAmp
file converter AWA its auxiliary input recording module, though. As far
as settling on a satisfactory player: Get a bunch an listen to them all,
sez-I. You will find them to sound very much different from each other
and will notice a great deal of variation in filter bandwidths and
effectiveness among their respective "equalizers". At least, Winamp has
a separate intermediate "pre-amp" level control at the equalizer to
compensate for the losses in addition to its "input" level control on
the actual player GUI.

Thanks for your input! I've downloaded it and will give it a try. Will
try to find time to do some kind of comparison between some of the
players too.

On hint,... install the beautifull CAndyglass skin at
http://www.xymantix.com/skins/qcd.html
it looks best in it's smalles lay-out... perfect to put permanently in
to of your screen. Even beter than any of Quints own skins...

As you mention in another post, I take that to mean "replay gain".

Thanks Derald, but I already use mp3gain (1.2). It's a seriously
excellent program and a vital componant of my multimedia software
collection. Thanks for pointing out the update though.

I've downloaded it as well.

Thanks for your input, Derald.

Functionality-wise, it looks great. However, I prefer something a
little darker. Still going to download it though. Thanks!

Brian,
WCD:

http://www.xs4all.nl/~waterlan/

is a "program to change directory fast" so I don't think that's the
one you're talking about. What do you mean by WCD?
