I can only get mp3 files to play in my presentation if
the mp3 file is in a certsin folder. If I move the mp3
file of the presentation...the sound no longer plays.
Any clues?

When you insert an MP3, PowerPoint creates a link with an address that
identifies where the file is located. The file is not embedded in the
presentation. So, if you move the file, the link is "broken" and PowerPoint
can no longer locate the file and play it. See also:

It's more than that...I can't even add an mp3 to a NEW
presentation if the sound file is in certain folders.

What happens when you try to insert it? Is this a file that inserted
successfully before, or is it a new file that you haven't used in a
presentation before? I'm trying to understand why you think it is related
to the folder, rather than the file itself.

It's the same file...lol...i insert it from one folder,
no play...i move it to another folder, works fine.
Doesn't matter if the presentation is new or if it's the
original one i made that won't work. Somehow...the
location of the sound file is key...I just can't figure
out what the difference is...why it works when i insert
from one folder and not from another when it's the same
music file.

Let's focus on the differences between the two folders. What is the full
path of each and what is the path of the presentation? Is there a reason
that you are not keeping the music file in the same folder that the
presentation resides in?
