I had been happily downloading mp3 files to my PC until
recently. I haven't installed any additional devices or
software, but all of a sudden I appear to be unable to
download this type of file. If I click on an mp3
download link, my PC just does nothing. It doesn't
freeze or stop me doing anything else, it just doesn't
prompt me to do anything with the file. It always just
instantly says 'Done' in the bar just above the Start
button. Can anyone help with this one ?!!

What are you using to p^lay the mp3's ? Is it WMP ? Which version ?
Re-install or up-grade to WMP9. Make sure it is the default player for
mp3's.

Cheers,
Jerry

Thanks for your reply - I do have Windows Media Player 9
installed & set as my default player. The problem is
when I want to download an mp3 from the web - if I click
on the link I expect the 'save' box to pop up but nothing
happens. It just instantly says 'Done' just above the
Start button.

Cheers, Gav.

Have you tried right clickinging and selecting save as?
It also might bethesite that your DLDing from. Try
another site.

Have tried that one I'm afraid. Also does nothing. I am
able to download from these sites using friends PC's &
also at work.

Frustrating !! ;0)

I've tried that but it also does nothing at that point
too. Just can't see why it's started doing this !! Or
not doing as the case may be !!

IF you DLD elsewhere can you take the file home and play
it back on your PC? If so its not your WMP. Check you
security setting for you IE, and your firewall settings.
