Hi:

I have tried this with no success.

Can I capture avi with mp3 for audio in ATI VCR (MMC 8.6)? When I
create a custom capture format in ATI VCR for AVI, I can get DIVX
video Configure button. But for Audio I can only do PCM. When I try
MP3 for audio, I only see 0 Khz.

I also tried to use virtualdub vcr. I can do PCM audio with DIVX video
OK. But If I use mp3 compression, virtualdub gives error that sound
card is not capturing audio.

BTW, I have windows xp home, 5.3 Ghz Compaq Presario PC. I also have
Intervideo mp3 acm codec installed, and it works fine in virtualdub
for postprocessing captured PCM to mp3.

Thanks for any help.

what codec for the mp3 audio are you using? sounds as though it is not compatible with VD..I have accomplished this with premier but
not with virtual dub

Try capturing as Mpeg1 with higher bitrate than needed, then postprocess to
Avi with Mp3 audio in VirtualDub.

Otherwise look up the program WinDVR - it works fine, but in my opinion it's
mpeg capture quality is not as good as Ati's.

I have used Intervideo mp3 acm codec. I have also tried lame acm with no
success.

Well, I had some success this weekend. I removed all ACM MP3 codecs
except Radium Fhg, and set it's priority to 1. Now, I can capture to
AVI with Divx for video, and mp3 for audio for 320x240 resolution with
no frame drops, using Virtual VCR program (found it on doom9). Very
nice, since I can directly put the video in my ARCHOS AV340 mp4
player.

However, even with the Radium mp3 codec, ATI MMC still does not show
any frequency except 0 Hz in the mp3 audio under AVI configuration. It
will be nice to be able to capture AVI with mp3 in ATI MMC, since it's
schedule in GuidePlus is excellent and easy to use.

Anyone has any suggestion on how to make mp3 configure work in ATI
mmc?

BTW, this is quick capturing for handheld video players. For high
quality, I still use PICVIDEO MJEPEG and PCM.

Thanks,

Bharat
