MP 9.0 won't play mpeg

I have an MPEG file MP won't play.
It tries to download a codec but comes up with an error
that it can't locate a file (presumably from the web site).

This is an mpeg on my hard drive.
 
Most likely it's an MPEG-2 file. You will need a software DVD player to
decode those files. PowerDVD and WinDVD are the two most popular.
