HTH,

Too bad, it seems to only work for XP (message- Windows #5), not 98.

Latest Opera has this facility built in under Tools/Delete private
data. It does not of course wipe the data by over-writing it, but it
does delete it.

The "multizilla" extension (available on the mozdev site) adds that
functionality, AWA much much more, to Mozilla. It allows on-the-fly
manual deletion of so-called "local data" AWA automagic end-of-session
removal. Warning: Multizilla versions past 1.6.3.n inhibit Moz's
bookmark manager but earlier versions remain available for d/l and
offline installation. There exists no uninstaller but simple-enough
removal instructions are posted on the multizilla page. FWIW, I running
Mozilla 1.71. and Multizilla 1.6.3.0e in Win98se.

For Mozilla, I use a batch file that reads like this:

Deltree /Y "C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\(your
username here)\(varies from system to system).slt\Cache\*.*"
del "C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\(your username
here)\(varies from system to system).slt\history.dat"
dir
cd c:\

Although the last two lines are not necessary. I have a shortcut on
the desktop to the batch file. Tweak the batch file to list the
locations of your user profile folder and this should do the job.

As for Opera, I don't use it because it's adware so I can't help you
there.
