Might be wrong, but I think it says you have to do a clean uninstall.

You are wrong.
I updated the 1.4.x version on my girlfriend's PC (Win98) and on my office
PC (Win2000) without a hitch.
Only my MDK9.1 is running Mozilla 1.3.x, still. But that is because I use
Opera, anyway.

Not for 1.5: it will now uninstall previous versions during its
install.

Backup your plugins folder unless you want to start from
scratch.

It is strongly recommended that you do NOT simply install over
an existing installation.

You never know. Sometimes the stars align just right and you get away
with it. Use Mozilla for a couple of hours, if you run into problems
you'll know why. If you don't, don't ask why. ;-)

3 days here after overwriting the old installation. No problems...and
that's 3 days of *intense* usage. Win98se.

The only thing I have noticed is a tendency for a dialog box to pop up
saying "<url web address> could not be found. Please check the name and
try again". If I keep hitting the 'go' button it usually finds it. I
posted this to the alt.fan.moz group but no responses yet. My old
version of Moz did not do this.

Haven't experienced this...but I'm back to using Firebird mostly
anyway.
