Hello,

I have a Windows 2000 DC in native mode that i need to
upgrade to new hardware. I bought the new server
already. I'd like it to have the same name, same ip,
active directory, dns, wins, etc. etc.

Any guidelines or pointers would be most helpful.

Thanks,

You didn't say so but it appears from your message that you have only one
DC. This article discusses some points, but it does say it is not
recommended for DCs. In my opinion you should promo down your server before
moving it:

You should promo down the DC to a temporary server only *after* backing up
the server's system state and C drive:

1. Transfering all fsmo roles to the new DC and making it a GC.
2. Run DCDIAG on both DCs to make sure all is well.
3. Promo down old server.
4. Install Win2K on new server, patch and promo.
