Moving User Profiles

Hi,
I need to migrate user profiles from one server to another server. How
can I do this as as Administrator I can't read the contents or copy/move
them? I get an error saying "the directory is not empty" when I try to
copy/move them. If I take ownership of them that works, but I'd rather
not do that and screw with the normal setup of AD profile directories.

I think you'll have to take ownership (as Administrators, not the admin
account itself) and reset permissions. You can set permissions for the whole
shebang to admins, system & users=full control - just make sure the profile
share is hidden (profiles$) so people can't browse it.

I guess this would work, but is it the RIGHT way? As normally the user
is the "owner"... as long as it won't break anything...

It does work; I've done it before. Is there a better way? Maybe, but this
has always worked for me.
