Hi,

we just got notice that we have to move our stuff from our current
server to a new, hopefully better server. We have tons (well, over a
hundred anyway) of subwebs with specific permissions on the old server.
What is the quickest way to move them to the new server?

Thanks in advance,

Aapo

You will need to publish them, however you will have to re-create permissions on the new server, as
they can not be published, etc. Also make sure your new web host / server support everything that
you have been using. If you are moving from Windows IIS to Unix/Linux Apache or vice-versa, then you
will have issues.

Ok, thanks for the quick reply!

Is it possible to use a regular FTP program in downloading the old
folders and uploading them to the new server? Then use FP to create the
permissions etc.. I'm so used to the "regular" ftp clients instead of
FP.

Absolutely No (FTP will give you garbage)

Right.

Now I have all the folders and subwebs visible in FP (opened as the
"local web site"), and have configured the new server (Remote web
site). What I would really like to do now is to select all subwebs and
folders and click on the transfer-button, but I can't seem to be able
to do that.

I'm used to working with ftp and Dreamweaver and FP's logic is pretty
different, so I'm a bit lost right now :)

Did you read the link in my other response?
You need to use the IIS migration tool and scripts provided in the link I gave you
