Hi All,

My company is moving 1 of it's sites so I have to set it up, I just
want to check what I will change..

1. Sites and services...I will not have to create a new 1 as I can
configure the old 1 with the new subnet info and new servers.

2. Enter DNS records for new servers, create a zone and create WINS
server

3. Create DHCP scopes and activate.

4. I will use the same OU, does anything need configured if I use the
old OU?

Anything else I have missed.

Regards,

James.

Well 1 is correct. If you're not using dynamic DNS you'd want to do 2 too,
although why create new zones? 3 adn 4 sounds right. 3 I assume means you're
runnig DHCP on your DC?

Hi,

Yes, I will be running DHCP on the DC, also DNS and WINS. I take your
point on DNS, no need to create zones if DC already, Also I am using
dynaic so no need to configure host records.

I the new site I will be creating a new DC and moving a DC from the
old site, I hve to do this as the old site will be in use as I am
working on the new 1.

To create the new DC am I better to configure at the old site then
move to new? if I do this is there anything I have to do before moving
to new such as a flushdns as I will change the IP when on the new
site. At this point I will have created a new sites and services
connection so do you think replication will happen OK?

In my first post I wrote I would reconfigure sites and services but
since the old site will be in use I cannot do this so a new subnet
will be used.

Thanks,

James.
