Hi!
I'm building this kind of database in wich I use several excel
workbooks.
1) On one side, I have origin data workbooks, where every raw data is
kept.
2) On the other side, I have workbooks that are linked with the
previous ones, that is, this second type of workbooks have formulae
that gather information from the first kind of workbooks.

Everything is allright if I stick to the way I have the workbooks
placed in the harddisk folder structure. But I'll have a problem If I
want to move the type 2 workbooks somewhere else (another computer, for
instance) or if I want to send them to someone else...

Could you help me out? I thought on having some kind of easy procedure
(a macro) to have the type 2 workbooks being duplicated but having only
the values pasted, not the formulae. With a value only workbook I could
then pass it on to anyone else without fearing to lose the links... Is
this possible?

Thank you.

Try this:

Open the workbook that you want converted to values.
select all the sheets in the workbook
(click on the leftmost tab and shiftclick on the rightmost tab)
hit Ctrl-A (ctrl-A twice in xl2003) to select all the cells.
Edit|copy
Edit|paste special|Values

Save as a new name.

=====
xl2002 offered a way to break links.
Edit|links|break links

Then your "internal" formulas could stay formulas.

And Bill Manville's FindLink addin will work in any version and it'll give you
an option to break links, too.

Bill Manville's FindLink program:

Hey! Great!! It works!!
In Excel 2003 is easy as well. There's an option called links tha
opens up a window where you can break the links.
Great mate. Thanks
