I plan on taking 1 Windows 2000 server offline, but I want
to move the printers to another Windows 2000 server, but I
don't want to reconfigure 125 clients, is there a painless
way to accomplish this.

I've never tried this, but I can't think of any reason you counldn't
renumber the name of the offline server in DNS and have it point to
your new server hosting the print queues.

anyone ever try this?

Michael,
We had the same issue several months ago and the best solution that we could
develop was a two step process.

The first was using the "print migrator" utility from Microsoft to copy the
queues from the older server to the new server.

The second was developing a script that would look at which printers were
currently configured on a workstation, parse the information for the printer
server name and the printer name, delete the printers from the old print
server and re-add the same printer but to the new print server. We also
parsed the default printer and reset the default from the new print server.

When the script was complete, we added it to the user login batch file.
