This is my second attempt to get an answer - please tell me there is one! This has happened to me in at least four different powerpoint presentations. I am using XP. I am not KNOWINGLY linking pictures. My pictures are either cut and pasted from other presentations, or I use insert picture (not choosing the LINK option). I do periodically compress my presentations throughout the process. Now, the problem, some times some of my pictures arbitrarily jumped from one slide to another. THe picture is still in the presentation, but the image that used to reside on sldie 4 is now on 10 and the one that was on 10 is now on 45 and on and on and on. Please help me. I need a response!!!!!!

Oh, I know that and I felt like you when I encountered it for the first
time. ;-)

Two "To do's" to avoid it:

- NEVER insert pictures by copy & paste. Prefer using "Insert | Image | From
file". If this is not possible because they are in other presentations and
you don't have the original graphics file, then insert them using "Edit |
Paste special" (you may then copy this picture to other slides in the SAME
presentation)

- AND: in "Tools | AutoCorrect Options | AutoCorrect while you type" disable
the last item "Automatic layout of inserted objects"

That did the trick for me.

Kind regards,
Ute

Very cool, Ute. Thanks for posting this.

I know we've seen this issue reported occasionally, but I don't know that we
ever nailed down any prophylactic measures for it...
