moving pics from desktop to document

Prior to installing Windows Vista, I was able to drag (camera) pictures from
the desktop or document onto a new document (In this case, Newsletter).
Doesn't work now. Also, camera pictures placed on desktop are labelled
SHORTCUT. I'm confused and my hands are tied. HELP, someone, PLEASE!!!

Try using the 'INSERT' picture facility..
