Moving photos to DVDs

In Windows XP I am attempting to move photos onto a DVD+R. The message in XP
says that I need to insert a medium compatible with Windows or the DVD is not
formatted! I typically work with CDs easily; however, I bought a Nikon D70
and CDs just won't hold the volume. Can someone explain what I'm doing
wrong Many thanks.

You cannot use XP to copy to DVD. You can use XP to copy to CD only.
If your computer came with a DVD drive you probably already have software
loaded on your computer to do this. You need to use this software. It may be
WinDVD, Sonic, Roxio, Nero etc.

Thank you so much, Mr. Alarie; I did try Roxio. I guess it's remotely
possible that I have a DVD reader, but NOT a DVD writer on this computer.
That's my sense, based on the Roxio message I received. I guess the next
step is to try to figure out whether this writes, or just reads! How?
Again, many thanks.

Read your documentation.

Also...look at the front of your DVD
drive, there should be some text labels
that identify it.

For example, I have 2 DVD drives...one
says "Player" the other one (the burner)
says "ReWritable".
