Is is safe to move or delete these files? I know not to
touch the NTDS.dit file. But what about all the
other .edb files. each one is 10mb, and I need room. so
instead of moving the ntds.dit file to another share (as
per the ad resouce kit guide) can I just delete or move
the old .edb file? (older than 1 week).

Thanks for the help! without these newsgroups, where
would we be?

Thanks for your response to my question. But, I was
really talking about the .edb files that are over a month
old. I know not to mess with the .dit file. I just
don't see a need to hold on to the older .edb files.

AD uses circular logging, so there should be just a few log files. There
were some references about some backup software not purging log files. What
software are you using for backup ? Prior to manually deleting log files,
make sure that you backup your AD.

I am using Backup Exec. I moved the files, and all seems
well. I will see how it does for a week before I delete
them.

thanks,

BackupExces was the one, that had this problem in one version. If you scan
trough this newsgroup you will find an answer regarding this type of
problem.
