Hello,
We are running exchange 5.5 SP4. Our clients are Outlook
2000 and 2002.
Can someone tell me the steps Outlook goes through when
moving a message from the exchange server to a personal
folder located on the network?
I'm thinking this is all RPC based. Does the client
intermediate between the personal folder and exchange?
Is the message copied to the local Outlook client and
then transferred to the personal folder on the network or
does it transfer directly from exchange to the personal
folder, bypassing the trip to the workstation?
I've heard that personal folders work better if they are
stored on the exchange server. If that's true, why?
I've looked and looked and can't find this degree of
detail.
I do know that personal folders shouldn't be stored on
the lan/wan, but our users want them backed up so that is
our reality.
Any help is appreciated.
Regards,
Sue
