If I move my Front Page 2003 program and all my website files from an old
computer to a new one, when I do a publish on the new computer, will
FrontPage decide all of the files are different and try to -- VERY SLOWLY --
upload the entire website from my computer to the server? Or will it know,
somehow, that the files are really the same?

I have a big website and only 600KB upload speed. I'd hate to reload
everything that I've been slowing loading on it for the past 6 years.

Help. Advice please.

(By the way, right now I am on Vista. The new machine might be another Vista
or it might be Windows 7. And I don't use SharePoint Services.)

Whenever you change computers, or sometimes when
re-installing FrontPage on an existing PC, the
local and remote websites will have to be
re-synchronised. This can only be accomplished by
Publishing the complete website.
If you use FrontPage extensions on the server, it
may be faster to Publish from the server to the
new PC - downloads are usually several times
faster than uploads with most cable and adsl
connections (for example, my 10Mbs download cable
has only 512Kbps upload - though publishing near
10Mbs is extremely unlikely).

Note that some (definitely not all) Windows 7
users find that FrontPage crashes frequently or
does not install at all. Some workarounds for
this are:
Install FrontPage in XPMode (requires
Professional or Ultimate edition of Windows 7)
Run FrontPage in XP Compatibility mode.

Off Topic - The arrival of your new PC may be a
good time to move to Expression Web. You are
eligible for the competitive upgrade pricing
(around $79), and all Expression Web 3 owners are
eligible for a free upgrade to Expression Web 4.
Expression Web is a replacement for FrontPage,
NOT an upgrade - some things in FP do not work in
EW.
