Moving from Slide Show to Word Doc (and back)

I am giving a presentation about MS Word. I want to show a topic and then
quickly switch to a Word document to demonstrate the topic and then to the
slide show to present the next topic. I cannot find a good way to go from the
slide show view to the document and then back again.

Based on searches I did on this site I have tried the following:

-Alt + tab - this only got me to the restored view in PPT but wouldn't cycle
to the Word file.
-Click the keyboard window button - thss brings up the startup menu and task
bar. I can then double click the Word file from the task bar (and vice versa)
but I don't like the big startup menu coming up.
-Change Slide Show, Setup Show to Browse by Individual - this shrinks the
presentation and puts the toolbars up along with the task bar

Other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

How about adding a hyperlink which links to the word doc itself? then when
you want to switch back, just use the alt-tab.
You can do so by adding a text or image (eg: Word doc example), then right
click on the object, click hyperlink. Choose the document you want and click
OK.

On a side note, it would be best to put the word doc and the ppt file in the
same folder before linking them. This will avoid broken link when you burn it
into a cd.

Thanks for the speedy reply. I will try your suggestions.

BTW, I still played around after posting this message and discovered that if
I hit the Window button twice from the keyboard, the Start menu goes away but
the taskbar doesn't. (The responder to the other message said she didn't know
a keyboard shortcut for just pulling up the task bar - guess this is it? *G*.)

Thanks again

Go to Start Menu > Settings > Taskbar and Start Menu.
Try changing the option for "keep the taskbar on top of other windows".
Unchecking it will allows powerpoint show to be on top of the taskbar, thus
hiding it.

Actually, I inserted the hyperlinks and it worked great! If I did it the
other way, I would need the taskbar to get back to the previous screen. Thanks

Actually if you hold down the ALT key and press TAB until the Slide Show is
shown as the program to switch to, it will work. Basically that means
opening the Word document, opening your presentation and going into Slide
Show mode. When ready to switch, hold the ALT key down, press TAB (maybe
twice) until your Word document shows up, then when done either close Word
or press ALT+TAB to go back to your Slide show. Personally I always assign
an action Setting to some sort of button or image to switch to another
program.

Thanks - I was holding the tab key down too long. These are both good ideas
(alt tab and the hyperlink). I will wow them thanks to you follks.
