Moving files?

My son and I are have hardwired computers and I'd like to move files to his
for backup. I have 2000 Pro SP4 he has XP. We can see each other and even
play media. So why can't I send a file to his? You'd think this was so
simple it would be in the help files, but no.

share a folder on your kid's box then access that shared folder from your
W2K pro machine and do a copy paste, cut paste or drag drop

I've done that but get the error that the file may be in use. (It isn't.)

They are large media files .avi in a shared folder. Thought I tried
every version of 'copy' I could think of. I've had his shared file up on my
screen and my file to copy and tried dragging it to his file. Also tried
copy and paste. It don't work.

This might help. I can play his media on my computer, but he can't play
mine on his.
