I have two hard drives (C, D) on my computer. My C drive has only 10% on free space left, while my D drive has 70% free space available. Can I move files from C to D, without hurting performance, in order to use the available free space more effectively? If so, how do I do that?

Thank you.
Bill

Bill,

Assuming that you have one hard disk drive and two partitions:

* You may move the downloaded files and stuff [except the installed application folders] to D:\ partition
* Move the MyDocuments folder to D:\ drive by folder redirection
* Use Disk Cleanup and purge all System Restore points to recover disk space in C:\
* Resize the partition [if you wish] using PartitionMagic or Bootit NG

Move files to D drive? To move programmes you need to uninstall and reinstall. Move Temporary Internet Files -Start, Control Panel,General tab, Temporary Internet Files, Settings, Move Folder.

How good is your housekeeping?

1. In Outlook Express empty your Deleted Items folder.

2. In Outlook Express run File, Folder, Compact All whilst OFFLINE.

3. Run Disk Cleanup. Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disk Cleanup.

4. Run Disk Defragmenter.
