Moving email files from old computer (OE5) to new XP

Forgive me please if this is a duplicate thread, but I posted my question hours ago & cannot find it.
I think I have 3 questions...
1) What program opens .dbx files? How do I get Windows XP to recognize & open them?
2)What do I do when my new computer says my OE Store is in C:\Documents and Settings\Colleen\Local Settings.......etc.....but I cannot find that file in a browse?
3) Has anyone used Intellimover software to move files from OE5 to OE6 on a separate computer? I think I need some step by step instructions. The file folder system seems to indicate that the moved files are where they belong, but I cannot see or open them!
Thanks in advance!
Colleen

i am no expert but trying to move old emails even to disk
for future use would be nice. I did some searchs for key
words and found that the outlook files are in hidden
files that have lots of numbers and letters. the next
thing is that they have a dbx extention which means you
have to buy some software i suppose to open and look at
the documents. you can find this software on the net to
purchase when you open the hidden file and then click on
it...it will ask you to search the net for a program to
open...and poof...there it is...costs and all. i decided
that for now maybe i will wait some. good luck

Thanks for the good wishes. I did some research at tomsterdam.com but could not find my answer. Most hints seem to refer to upgrades on the same computer. My OE mail messages are all stored in separate subfolders under the OE Inbox folder on my old computer (I made a folder for each topic or sender as new mail came in) and includes 3 years worth of messages I do not want to lose! I also do not want to re-create all of these separate folders in my new OE if I can just drag & drop them instead. Anyone with more info, please help! Thanks! Colleen

Outlook Express uses .dbx files, one for each folder and one for the index
of folders. Windows XP cannot open them. Outlook Express opens them.

Enable hidden files.

I believe OE5 and OE6 use the same format for the message store files, so an
OE5 message store should be directly useable by OE6. Just make sure your
OE6 knows where to look for the message store.

You really should ask OE questions in an OE newsgroup.
