I just started working for a company. They have two
domains setup on the network. They would like to take
Domain B and move it under Domain A as a child domain.
What is the best way to accomplish this if it is at all
possible? They would like to continue using two different
active directories because they have different users setup
under each domain. They are using Windows 2000 Server.
The PDC for Domain B. is also hosting Exchange 2000 so
this is also a concern.

Thanks for your help/input,
Chris

The only way to create the parent/child relationship is during dcpromo. You
would have run dcpromo all DCs in the domain you want to become the child
(you will loose all user/domain info) then run dcpromo a second time and
choose the option to install the first DC in a new child domain.

Or you could setup the new child domain, then use ADMT to migrate users from
the domain you want to become the child to the child domain. They couldn't
have the same name though.

Would a trust between the two domains work?
