Moving Contacts

Y

yeahh

I recently switched computers. I added the "old" HD to
the new computer as a slave drive so I could transfer all
of my files.

I successfully moved all of my emails including sent,
inbox, deleted..

Now I'm trying to move the old contacts but I cant seem
to be able to do it. Anyone have any ideas? Where are
the contacts stored? How do I move or import them?

Thanks!

They're in the same file as your emails. How did you miss them?
Tell us how you managed to move emails but not Contacts. That is hard to
fathom.

Well, the way I did it was to open up the .pst file under
the directory ...local settings/application
data/microsoft/outlook/... then I had 2 trees open in
the left pane and I simply moved the folders over...I
just re-opened the file again to see if I missed it, the
only things I see are all of my email folders that I
already moved the info from...but no contacts? Now
what? Are they gone??

outlook 2003? were you using the folder list?

also - if you moved the contacts folder, is it in the folder tree? you need
to enable it as an address to see it in the to field? (It's better to move
the contacts to the new contacts folder instead of moving the folder.)

Also #2... were you aware you could have moved the old pst to the new
install and used it as your default pst?

Yes, outlook 2003. Yes, I was using the folder list.

I did not move the contacts folder (that I can remember).
Did not think about simply moving the .pst file..will
remember that for next time.

Anything else I can try to recover my contacts? I left
the "old" HD completely intact so I could easily move my
files..I cant believe that I might have lost them..

I doubt you lost them. More likely, you simply opened the wrong PST file. If
you had opened your old default PST, your contacts would be there.
Just open all the PST files you find on your old hard drive. You'll find
them.
