Moving contact files from one computer to another

I would like to export my personal folders, in particular my updated contacts folders, from one computer to another. I have office on both computers. IN the past, I could export the personal folders and then check the properties for my contacts and assign the backup folder to be the one that would be seen by the program. However, the folder is not obvious to me. It is grayed out. How can I do what I've done in the past. Thanks.
 
Exporting is a good way to lose data.
Instead, create a new PST file. Name it whatever you want so that you'll
remember it. Copy your Contacts into it.
Then open that PST file in the other installation and copy the Contacts into
that PST file. Then close the PST file you moved over.

I don't understand. How do I make a new pst file?
How do I copy the contacts into it?
And most importantly, how do I connect up the other installation to this new pst file? Remember, my pst file home page is grayed out and I can't see where it is. Thanks for your help

It would help if you included your Outlook version.
In most versions:
To Create a New PST file:
File > New > Outlook Data File... (or Personal Folders File). Name the
File whatever you want. Look at its properties to see where it resides on
your hard drive.

To Copy Contacts:
Select all the Contacts in your default Contacts Folder > Edit > Copy to
Folder... > Select the Contacts Folder in this new PST file to receive the
Contacts. Close Outlook.

To transfer:
Copy the new PST file you just created to the system running the other
installation of Outlook. Launch Outlook. Use the File > Open > Outlook Data
File to open this PST. Copy the Contacts into the default PST file of the
new installation.
