Moving address book

Got a new computer with Vista Premium and have copied my Outlook 2002 address
book and messages from my previous computer. At first I got the message with
the address list: "The address list could not be displayted. The Contacts
folder associated with this address......permissions, etc.

I checked the necessary properties box in each address list "show as e-mail
address". It all seems fine but when I click on "To" for an e-mail or click
on a distribution lsit (I have several), I still get the "address list could
not be displayed.....".

Is there a way to stop this message? For now, I click OK and go on selecting
an e-mail name from one of my contacts and dispatch the e-mail. It's just a
nuisance having the messge pop up each time.

Thanks for help. Norm.

Your post makes no sense. Outlook does not even have an address book. So
when you say you copied your "address book and messages" we have no idea
what you mean. Enlighten us with a more accurate and complete description of
what you actually did.

I'll try it again. I copied the file
......AppData/local/Microsoft/Outlook/Outlook from my older computer to the
new one. This file contained my contacts as well as messages.

For each contact list, I clicked properties and on tab "outlook address
book" clicked "show this folder as an e-mail address book". When I prepare an
e-mail and click on "TO", I get the message "The address list could not be
displayed.........". Click OK. and the "Select Names" panel shows and "SHow
Names from the" ----Contacts is displayed. I move on to one of my contact
lists "A-H" and the names show up allowing me to select the name I wish.

My only wish is to have the message "The address list could not be
displayed...." not show up - it is just a nuisance.

Thanks. Norm.

So you copied your PST file. How did you then configure Outlook to use it?
You appear not to have reset the Outlook Address Book to show the Contact
Folder in your current PST file and it is still pointing to a previous
Contact Folder. Just remove that invalid reference here:
Tools > E-mail accounts > View or change existing directories or address
books > Outlook Address Book > Change.
