My W2K laptop is normally plugged into a W2K domain (actually a SBS2K
domain). I regularly take it home and connect to my peer network containing
2 Windows XP PCs.
If I log in at home in the usual way (ie putting the office domain name in
the login dialog) all fires up perfectly OK but when I attempt to connect to
resources on other machines I get an error. I think it says something like
"no authenticatiion available". Perversely, I can access the drives on the
laptop from one of the fixed PCs no problem. This is OK (though
inconvenient) for file copying etc but no good at all for printing.
If I log in using the local machine domain, I can access remote drives
within the home network but I can't get at my offline exchange server
mailbox.
I'm sure I never had this trouble with Windows NT which just recognised
secure server resources and separately peer network workstations which users
could grant you access to or not.
Is there any way of getting access to peer networked resources when logged
in as though connected in a W2K server environment?
TIA
