Ben

I have a office97 access database that runs on a
network. I would like to be able to copy the database to
laptop for viewing. When I copy the files to the laptop,
join the workgroup, and then open the database, I get a
message indicating a relationship error. I then went
into the database and found some linked pages, which I
was able to change 2 of the 3 links to point the laptop
files. The 3rd. will not change.

Is there an easier way to move the database to another
computer that is not on the network. They only want to
view the data.

Thanks in advance.

The Linked Table Manager (under Tools | Add-ins) should be able to relink
all of your tables, or you can use VBA code such as that shown in
http://www.mvps.org/access/tables/tbl0009.htm at "The Access Web" to relink
the tables yourself.

Or might your linkage have been hard-coded (for instance, an SQL statement
trying to retrieve data from another source)?

Thanks for the reply. I tried going into the linked
table manager, and there are 3 links, 2 of the 3 I can
set to the database location, the third I get the
following message:

The microsoft Jet database engine cannot find the input
table or query 'FACTORY'. Make sure that it exists and
that it is spelled correctly.

When I try and go into the MS Access application I get
the following message:

The expression On Load you entered as the event property
setting produced the following error:
*the expression may not result in the name of the
macrot, the name of a user-defined function
* There may have been an error evaluating the
function, event, or macro.

I moved the same database to another PC some time ago,
and after I changed the linked table manager it was fine,
but that was a win98 machine.

Any additional help would greatly be appreciated.

p.s. I am not a programmer by any means....

Thanks,
