Greetings-

Would anyone be able to tell me why when I follow the steps to save a
finished movie that I created from clips made with my webcam and I attemp to
playback the CD-R in my Windows Media Player 9, it only shows the title
captioning that I created and only plays the sound? Am I missing a codec or
something?, it seems that it only plays back correctly from the CD-R when I
open it with the Movie Maker, -I am using Windows XP SP2.

All The Best!

The movie that I created in Movie Maker is a .wmv file and it is only
playing the sound and captures. Could it be that I need to save it to DVD?

Thanks
Elaine

Hello,

I'm a bit confused over what you are saying.....but in any case saving to DVD
will not improve anything. Can you specify again by using a list, what objects
you are putting into your project (and their format) and then another list
stating what does not get included in the finished WMV file

Hello again and that you for getting back to me.

What I am doing is editing all the clips that I made with my webcam over the
summer and I am cutting the down and the parts out that I do not want, I am
using Windows Movie Maker to do this, and when I have all the clips that I
would like to be in the movie I am adding them to the Stroy Board and
placing titles and transitions between the clips to take out the abruptness
of the clip, using the fade transitions makes editing almost flawless, the
scenes blend in to each other and at the beginning of each segment I also
adding a title to announce each. then when I have all the segments and
transitions and titles in place I am using the Finish Movie drop down list
in the left panel of the Movie Maker and selecting Save To CD from there I
am following the instructions to name the file and select the quality at
which I would like it to be saved to the CD, in this case I am using Best
Quality since the videos were made with a webcam. Before I have clicked to
start the recording I am making sure there is a recordable disk in the
appropriate drive as indicated, then I click to copy the finished edited
movie to a CD-RW or CD-R, after which it either hangs or it tells me that it
is finished and when I attempt to open it in Windows Media Player it only
plays the captions (titles which I created) and the sound with no video.

Thank you for taking the time to help me with this, with the coming of the
holiday it would seem that not too many people have much time for anything,
but I am sure after the holidays these groups will be inundated with
problems from people troubleshooting their new toys and if I can get this
figured out by then, maybe I can help the next guy.

All the best.

Elaine

Hello again,

Sorry for the delay answering you.

OK, what you need to do first is save your video to the computer and not a cd.
We need to check whats going on before the CD gets involved. When you have
saved to CD, can you play that file...just double click it in Windows Explorer,
OR, run Media Player and click on FILE > OPEN to get to the clip. Let us know
what happens there.

Yes, but when I save it to my computer it will only open with Movie Make and
not Windows Media Player.

Seasons brightest to you...

Hello,

I have to say at the moment that you have me stumped.

I think you said the whole thing is quite small. Would you like to zip it up
(source files and project file) and email it to me? If so send it to
(e-mail address removed)

It isn't that small the finished movie is 127 mb more than an hours worth of
footage.

Elaine

Hello,

Problems problems...are you on Broadband ? If you are you could follow the
directions on my website for uploading video to the visitor section but instead
zip up the files to your project and send that. That's the best I can offer at
the moment.

I don't have broadband for sending the file to you visitors site and I
beleive it to be too large to send with dial-up, so I will have to thank you
for your time in your atteempte to help me with this, I really appreciate it
as noone else seems to have the time for it and this is not the first time I
have had to post this to the group without a response, I guess the demand
for help is exceeding the supply of those skilled enougth to help, -if that
makes any sense....

All the best,
Elaine
