I've made a few DVD's from my old VHS tapes using Movie
Maker 2 and Sonic DVD. When I play them on my DVD player,
the size seems too large so that all 4 edges of the film
are off the TV screen. It's as if the picture was
magnified about 10% Any Ideas?

Bob,

That's about right.... the MyDVD software has an option to toggle the 'TV
Safe' area on and off, so you can just what will show up.... computer
monitors show more than TVs.

So is there any way to shrink the picture before burning
the DVD so that you can see it all on the TV?

Bob,

You could resize the movie and add a frame around as you do, so the frame is
off-screen... using Virtual Dub. There's a link to download it on the Setup
Software page.

Maybe www.DVDRHelp.com has some pointers about doing what you want...

Most would just save the movie as is and accept the cropping that normally
occurs.
