Movies only automatically play once

I have a kiosk style presentation where I want movies to automatically play
when a user navigates onto a slide. This works fine the first time you
navigate onto a slide, but if you move onto another slide then navigate back
again, the movie will not automatically play - you have to click on the movie
to get it working.

I have Power Point 2003 SP2

PowerPoint remembers that you have played the movie (play effect) before and
will not repeat it if you are hyperlinking them.

Try this:
Insert a dummy slide before the movie slide.
On the dummy slide, click Slide Show > Slide Transition.
Under Advance slide, select Automatically after 00:00.
Set hyperlinks to point to the dummy side and NOT the movie slide.
See if it works this time round.

Also, check this out:

Many thanks for the speedy response Shawn. The dummy slide solution will work
- although alot of extra work inserting slides and updating hyperlinks - I
have a large demo with alot of movies in!

I also looked at the link you provided and implemented some macros to reset
the build on each slide when navigating off them - this worked very well.
That said, I then found out that power point viewer doesn't support macros -
buts that's another issue - [long sigh]

Nothing wrong with the solutions you suggested Shawn - thanks very much -
its just a pain that power point has this (obvious) problem in the first
place. Thx.
