I have a Canon ZR300, video looks great on the camera screen, records great
(bright and sharp) on to a free standing DVD recorder, however, when
capturing to my PC via firewire (a Sony Viao Pentium 4 CPU 2.66 GHZ with 526
of RAM) video becomes grainy and dark. This happens in the pre-view screen on
my pc and also the final product. (DVD). This is my 2nd video camera that i
have tried to capture video from with identical results. What am i doing
wrong? I capture in the highest Quality format Windows Movie maker allows.

have you saved it just to your computer or are you directly going to windows
movie maker and importing or downloading it?

First I save it to my computer and when playing it back evenbefore editing it
in movie maker..picture is probably about 4-5 shades darker than the original
video

In Windows media player adjust the brightness / contrast of the unedited
(captured) version prior to importing into movie maker, then save, then
import.
