Moviemaker shuts down notebook

Hi!

A friend has a problem: When exporting the final movie from Moviemaker
the notebook shuts down reproducably at approx. 12 to 14%. It's a DELL
Inspiron 8100.

I'll take a look at the machine personally during the weekend, but I'd
appreciate a hint where to look :-)

the CPU runs at 100% when saving a movie.... and if it overheats, it flips a
thermal switch and shuts down

keep it cool

Is there a possibility to limit a tasks CPU resources to, maybe, 50%?

I do that with dual core CPUs... by changing the affinity for Moive Maker to
use one of the two, which cuts usage in half....

Task Manager > Processes > Movie Maker > right click > Set Affinity >
uncheck one of the CPUs.
